Do you want to give back to your community in a meaningful and enriching way? Here is your opportunity! Volunteers are a vital part of Compassion Catalyst Community. Share your ideas and coaching skill to those who are in need.  

What would you be doing?

You will be an online chat responder providing support on our google chat platform.

 

  • Providing immediate and confidential support (chat, etc.) using our procedures and policies

  • Providing information and referrals when appropriate

  • Understanding what to do if you are concerned about a person’s safety

  • Work with callers/chatters, volunteers, and staff in a respectful and professional manner

  • Letting callers know you’re listening and someone cares

  • Letting the person know there is someone here to provide individual support

  • Commitment to consistently engage.

  • Share your expertise to your mentees 

  • May hold group webinars or online trainings relevant to your niche.

What would you not be doing?

 Volunteers are not therapists or hold themselves out to be.

  • You are not providing crisis intervention.

  • You are not a providing addiction counselling.

  • You are not providing any advice related to their personal problems such as:           - Marriage.                                                                                                                       - Child care                                                                                                                     - Sexual Preference                                                                                                         - Family Problems                                                                                                           - Financial Problems 

What qualities are we looking for?

  • Typing proficiency

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Skill in fostering rapport and expressing empathy and sentiment in a digital environment

  • Capability to maintain composure and effectiveness during difficult circumstances.

  • Non-discriminatory and embracing of diverse perspectives and convictions

  • Dependability and timeliness

  • Capability to operate autonomously.

  • Solid self-awareness and practical judgment

  • Emotional strength, steadiness, and maturity

  • Receptive to feedback and ongoing growth

  • Access to a computer with dependable internet access

  • Availability of a private setting at home for the duration of your volunteering session

  • Adherence to Compassion Catalyst policies, protocols, and online chat guidelines

  • Willingness to uphold Compassion Catalyst’s core values.

What we need from you

We request your commitment to fulfill at least one 2- 4hours of your time every week and finish at least 50hour shift in total. 

Scheduling offers flexibility, allowing you to select from four designated time slots each week:

8am to 12pm

12pm to 4pm

4pm to 8pm

8pm to 12am

12am to 4am

What will be expected of you

  • You are at least 18 years old.

  • 2 pieces of photo ID. 

  • 2 volunteer, work, or school-related references. Upload it in your application form. CLICK HERE. 

  • 1 Non-Disclosure Agreement. You can download the agreement HERE then SIGN and upload it in your application form. 

  • 1 Police Record Check. NBI or Police clearance is okay. 

  • Reliability in fulfilling weekly shift commitments.

  • Comply with Compassion Catalyst policies and procedures and our Code of Ethics.

  • Maintain a confidential workplace as well as confidentiality about your work.

  • Participation in ongoing training and work-related development opportunities.
